Information posted on sanfranciscocannabisclubs.com names Saturday, May 2, 2009 as “San Francisco Cannabis Freedom Day” in conjunction with the Global Marijuana March scheduled worldwide.

Delta Dove Events (with whom the authors of this website are not involved) have posted the announcement that May 2 will be coined “San Francisco Cannabis Freedom Day” for celebration in the city. The Delta Dove event is slated to take place from 12:00 Noon until 6:30 PM and will feature vendors, music, and special guest speakers.

All of the Delta Dove scheduled happenings will be free and open to the public at the Civic Center Plaza, 355 McAllister, across from City Hall. Apparently, the non-smoking ordinance will be “strictly enforced” around the plaza, but a “Compassion Tent” will be available for patients with a medical card or doctor’s note.

It has come to this web-bitch’s attention that information about an actual, literal march has not been posted. As soon as plans for a march to coincide with the Global Marijuana March arise, sfmarijuanamarch.com will pass the info along to you so you can pound the pavement with us! It’s one thing to gather in solidarity and move forward in a symbolic fashion. It’s another thing to gather in a stagnant crowd and buy t-shirts and munch on funnel cakes without going anywhere.

We are sure the scheduled bands and speakers whom Delta Dove have lined up will be entertaining, informative, and inspiring, so it will be great to see a huge crowd there. BART does have a Civic Center stop that is within easy walking distance.

If you or your organization have events scheduled to coincide with the Global Marijuana March on Saturday, May 2, 2009, comment here or e-mail Sarah Sensimilla so that we can help you spread the word. We need as many supporters as possible out and visible for the cause. Remember, this is the year of change. So drop the fucking cheetos, get off the damn couch, and “YES WE CAN” with us!

The 2009 Global Marijuana March is stepping off Saturday, May 2, 2009 in hundreds of cities around the world.

San Francisco will be participating again this year!

If you believe in a patient’s right to safe, chemical-free treatment…

If you believe in man’s inherent right to explore and foster his own spirituality…

If you believe everyone has a right to choose what they do to their own body so long as it does not infringe upon the rights of others…

If you believe that prohibition and the subsequent blackmarkets are more damaging to the stability of a nation than the substance in question itself…

If you believe the American government needs to end its wasteful “war on drugs” and attempts at brainwashing the masses with phony propaganda…

If you believe that recognizing marijuana as a legitimate cash crop is a common-sense way to generate additional tax revenue…

If you have any other arguments for legalization…

If you just wanna get stoned without all the bullshit…

WE NEED YOU TO BE HERE TO MAKE A PUBLIC STANCE WITH US. BRING YOUR FRIENDS FROM THE BAY AREA AND BEYOND!

In the weeks ahead, sfmarijuanamarch.com will be posting more information related to San Francisco’s participation in this year’s event.

Many of the day’s activities will be spontaneous, but anyone who has planned an event to coincide with the march – music, lecture, sit/smoke-ins, performance, whatever! – should hit us up with your information so we can pass it along (to the left, to the left).

We support our brothers and sisters in other participating cities around the world, and we want to hear about what you have going on, too.

Tell us what you have planned by leaving a comment here or by e-mailing your trusty web-bitch, Miss Sarah Sensimilla: sarah@sfmarijuanamarch.com.

CLEAR YOUR CALENDAR! WE’LL SEE YOU IN THE CITY ON SATURDAY, MAY 2, 2009!
